The Church of Ireland Bishops’ Appeal for World Aid and Development has launched a disaster appeal in response to the catastrophic flooding in Libya. The floods, which were triggered by a Mediterranean storm, were focused on the city of Derna where almost 4,000 people are known to have died and over 9,000 are missing after torrents of rain and debris swept away entire districts.

Anne Burghardt, que será la nueva secretaria general de la Federación Luterana Mundial (FLM). La recientemente electa secretaria general Rev. Anne Burghardt será la primera mujer y la primera pastora de Europa Central y del Este que dirigirá la FLM.

Der geschäftsführende Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen, Priester Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, hat Pastorin Anne Burghardt anlässlich ihrer Wahl zur neuen Generalsekretärin des Lutherischen Weltbundes (LWB) herzlich gratuliert. Mit der Wahl von Pastorin Anne Burghardt wird erstmals eine Frau und erstmals eine Geistliche aus der Region Mittel- und Osteuropa diese Führungsposition im LWB übernehmen.

Le père Ioan Sauca, secrétaire général par intérim du Conseil œcuménique des Églises, a transmis ses chaleureuses félicitations à la pasteure Anne Burghardt, nouvelle secrétaire générale de la Fédération luthérienne mondiale (FLM). La pasteure Anne Burghardt est la première femme et la première pasteure d’un pays d’Europe centrale et orientale élue à la tête de la FLM.

World Council of Churches acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca extended warm congratulations to Rev. Anne Burghardt, who will serve as the new general secretary of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF). The election of Rev. Anne Burghardt marks  the first woman and the first Central and Eastern European pastor to head the LWF.
