“Transforming Discipleship and Creation”

06 October - 11 September 2024

A consultation entitled Transforming Discipleship and Creation” will take place from 6-11 October in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand. Cohosted by the World Council of Churches (WCC), Methodist Church of New Zealand, and Te Runanga Whakawhanaunga i ngā Hāhi, the gathering will include personal sharing, exposure visits, case studies, and reflection.

Weekend of Prayer and Action Against Hunger

11 - 13 October 2024

The World Council of Churches (WCC), along with global faith organizations, is raising urgent awareness of the growing hunger crisis through the "Weekend of Prayer and Action Against Hunger." Inspired by Isaiah 58—"to loose the chains of injustice, untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free...and share our food with the hungry"—this global movement calls on faith communities to take spiritual and practical steps to help end hunger.

Ecumenical Indigenous Peoples Network Reference Group meeting - Seminar on Indigenous spirituality, land rights, and climate justice

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Ecumenical Indigenous Peoples Network Reference Group is convening for the first time in-person at the WCC Ecumenical Institute at Bossey from 12-13 October to plan the work ahead.  The main objectives will be to build community and begin to shape plans and priorities.

International conference “Towards Nicaea 2025: Exploring the Council’s Ecumenical Significance Today”

The World Council of Churches’ Ecumenical Institute at Bossey cordially invites emerging and senior scholars from diverse Christian traditions to participate in an international conference focusing on the ecumenical significance of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325 CE) and its relevance in today’s rapidly changing world.

Young People in the Ecumenical Movement Commission first in-person meeting

13 - 19 November 2024

The WCC commission of Young People in the Ecumenical Movement (Youth Commission) “seeks to ensure that the prophetic voices of young people are present and heard within the WCC; and to empower young people through networking and ecumenical commitment on various levels”. The commission includes young people actively engaged in ecumenical activities, with some members also serving on the WCC central committee, executive committee and other WCC commissions.

20 - 26 November 2024

The 25-person Executive Committee is the WCC governing body, with members from churches in every region. It meets twice a year to monitor ongoing work, supervise the budget and deal with policy matters referred to it by the Central Committee.

The Central Committee serves as the chief governing body of the WCC until the next assembly, meeting every 2 years. It is responsible for carrying out the policies adopted by the Assembly, reviewing and supervising WCC programmes and the budget of the Council.
