In solidarity visit to Sudan, WCC strengthens foundations for peace

The World Council of Churches led a delegation on a visit to Sudan from 18-22 April. The ecumenical group included the World Council of Churches (WCC), All Africa Conference of Churches, ACT Alliance, Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa Global Ministries, Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa, General Board Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, and Norwegian Church Aid.

WCC condemns bomb attack in Pakistan

The World Council of Churches (WCC) condemned a bomb attack in Pakistan that killed 40 people and injured 200 others—including children—as they gathered for a political rally in Pakistans northwestern Bajur district. At least 40 people were killed and nearly 200 wounded, including children. The attack is one of the worst in recent years.

En una carta pastoral a las iglesias y los asociados ecuménicos de Sudán, el secretario general del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay, transmitió sus oraciones por la paz para aliviar el sufrimiento de sus gentes.

“Hemos recibido con tristeza y alarma las recientes noticias sobre las repercusiones cada vez mayores del actual conflicto y el aumento de la inseguridad en las iglesias y comunidades religiosas del país”, escribió Pillay.
