As the “Working Together” gathering opened on 24 April, World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay expressed deep appreciation for WCC partners whose support has helped define and direct programs, peace-building, and prophetic truth-telling.

World Council of Churches (WCC) staff with gather for Staff Planning Days, exploring together the theme “Journeying together with God” in line with the WCC Strategic Plan which is based on a Pilgrimage of Justice, Reconciliation and Unity. 

The World Council of Churches executive committee met online on 8 December to continue work on the Green Village property development project, particularly the Lima building, which will house the offices the WCC will rent to sister organizations and tenants.

On 5 December, the World Council of Churches (WCC) signed a “2050Today” charter that commits to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Geneva-based 2025Today is a climate action forum where institutions of Geneva come together and commit to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions. 

A delegation from the Protestant Church in Switzerland visited the World Council of Churches (WCC) on 20 November. The delegation included Rev. Dr Martin Hirzel, director of External Relations; Damian Kessi, External Relations officer; Marion Wittine, assistant to the director of External Relations; and David Zaugg, senior officer for Public Affairs and Migration.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee closed its meeting on 14 November after a weeklong gathering in Nigeria, hosted by member churches and joyously welcomed by local communities. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee will meet 8-14 November in Abuja, Nigeria to approve plans and budget for 2024, and to further develop the Pilgrimage of Justice, Reconciliation, and Unity.

The Green Village, new site of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and its partners, has been named a One Planet Living leader by Bioregional, a designation that reflects sustainable aspects of life and work. Additionally, the Montreal building of Green Village was awarded third place in the its category at the 2023 Romandy Real Estate Awards,

Implenia CEO André Wyss and other members of the Implenia management team visited the Green Village on 10 October. The Implenia team, accompanied by World Council of Churches staff, the group took the opportunity to inform the members of Implenia's executives about the status of the project.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is holding Staff Planning Days from 2-6 October with the goal of strengthening collaboration and exploring what it means to be a fellowship of churches on a Pilgrimage of Justice, Reconciliation, and Unity.
