Working Together increases shared knowledge between specialized ministries and the WCC in order to strengthen collaboration and mutual support, particularly in relation to programmatic work, planning, and reporting mechanisms.

It is attended by representatives from specialized ministries and WCC staff responsible for programme development, finance, relationship building, reporting, fundraising, and planning.

Designed by a core group of specialized ministries leadership along with the WCC, Working Together deepens collaboration and offers opportunities to share updates, best practices, and experiences.

In addition, the gathering helps hone common procedures around collaboration and funding; explains developments in programme structure, budgeting, planning, and reporting; and advances common understanding around specific issues.

Unique in 2024 will be the opportunity for specialized ministries to more deeply understand the WCCs programmatic structure in the context of the WCC Strategic Plan 2023-2030. Specialized ministries will also receive an update on WCCs financial status and the Green Village project.

We are grateful for specialized ministries, for the many ways we collaborate on important issues, and for their essential roles in the one ecumenical movement,” said WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay.

For the first time, this year representatives had the opportunity to participate in an online strategic orientation on 11 April. “It was a key opportunity to go into more depth with the strategic plan so that our precious time together at Bossey is devoted to engagements, exchanges, discussions, and deliberation,” said Rev. Nathan Day Wilson, WCC liaison with specialized ministries.

“In a world as divided as ours, we give thanks for specialized ministries, and for the ways that we, working together, bear witness to Gods intended wholeness,” Wilson added.
