Recalling believers’ mandate to act as stewards and beneficiaries of God’s creation, the World Council of Churches (WCC) Assembly gathered in morning prayer on the first day of September, the Orthodox Day of Prayer for Creation and the start of an ecumenically observed Season of Creation. At the heart of the liturgical action was a combining of vessels of water from each inhabited region of the earth, a “gathering of the waters” reflecting the earliest act of creation in Genesis 1:9.

Und unsere Teilnahme an der anstehenden Versammlung des Baptistischen Weltbundes ist in unseren Augen eine gute Gelegenheit dafür“, sagte Pastorin Dr. Angelique Walker-Smith von der National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. und Bread for the World in Washington, DC, während der konfessionsgebundenen Sitzung der Baptistengemeinden im Rahmen der Tagung des Zentralausschusses des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) vor Kurzem.

Notre présence à l’occasion du rassemblement de l’Alliance baptiste mondiale peut nous permettre d’y parvenir», explique la Pasteure Angelique Walker-Smith de la Convention baptiste nationale des États-Unis et de Pain pour le Monde à Washington, D.C, lors de la réunion confessionnelle baptiste qui s’est tenue dans le cadre de la récente réunion du Comité central du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE).

We see our presence in the Baptist World Alliance gathering coming up as a possible forum to do this,” said Rev.
