Christian educators and other church leaders in Togo are eagerly turning the pages of a new resource for children, a curriculum entitled “Because God Loves Me—Affirming My Value in Christ,” published by the World Council of Churches (WCC).

Le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) publie «Parce que Dieu m’aime – Affirmer ma valeur en Christ», un nouveau programme écrit en français et conçu pour aider les enfants âgés de 7 à 12 ans à lutter contre la violence basée sur le genre.

Bien que le programme, édité par Yvette A. Kelem et Blandine E. Ackla, ait été conçu principalement pour être utilisé par les Églises en Afrique, il est également accessible et utile à d’autres populations francophones. 

 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is publishing “Because God Loves Me—Affirming My Value in Christ,” a new curriculum written in French that is designed to help children ages 7-12 address gender-based violence.

Though the curriculum, edited by Yvette A. Kelem and Blandine E. Ackla, was developed for use primarily with churches and church groups in Africa, it is relevant and accessible for other French-speaking populations as well. 

 

In the month of March, the World Council of Churches is encouraging its fellowship and partners to join the Lott Carey “31 Days of Prayer for Women’s Empowerment,” which is also the 9th Anniversary Global Women’s Prayer Guide. The guide features 31 days of prayer for incarcerated women and girls around the world.

In a video greeting, WCC acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca offered warm greetings to the Communion of Churches in Indonesia on its 70th anniversary.

Born in Nazareth, Galilee, Rev. Dr Saïd Ailabouni moved to the US at the age of 19 to become a physician. But he was so angry at God that he went to study theology instead, becoming a Lutheran pastor. Now he is leading the Middle East & Europe desk of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Since leaving his hometown 50 years ago, he visits his Palestinian family regularly. As the World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel approaches, Ailabouni agreed to share some of his lifetime observations with the Word Council of Churches.

The regional presidents of the World Council of Churches sent special greetings to churches around the world celebrating Pentecost. “To prophesy is to tell the truth,” reads the message. "No rank or class, no race or club, no gender, nor even any religion, has a monopoly on the truth.”

World Council of Churches general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit sent greetings to Church and Peace commemorating the organization’s 70th anniversary.
