WCC climate work looks to unite a global voice on climate change, justice, food, and health

As the World Council of Churches (WCC) Climate Working Group meets this month, the advisory body is looking forward to offering the fruits of its work for reflection and, most important, action at the WCC 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe. As Brazilian artist Janine Marja Schneider pieces together the Waterfall of Solidarity and Resistance” tapestry, she brings mixed emotions to her endeavors. On one hand, shes inspired to bring the stories of women from around the world to life on the colorful blocks that cascade downward like liquid. On the other hand, with every stitch, she more deeply absorbs what brings these women together: it’s what theyve survived.

En una declaración pública, el Comité Central del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) llama a las iglesias miembros y a los asociados ecuménicos del CMI “a condenar o reiterar su condena de la violencia sexual y de género, así como de toda forma de violencia contra las mujeres, los niños y las personas vulnerables; a declarar que ese rechazo de la igualdad de dignidad de todas las personas y esa violencia son pecado, y a implementar las directrices relativas a la  prevención de la explotación, el abuso y el acoso sexual.
