In a contribution to the Church of Sweden’s publication “150 Years of International Engagement,” World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay celebrates the church’s vital legacy and reflects on its evolving character.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) hosted Bishop Dr Jukka Keskitalo and Rev. Pekka Mustakallio from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, to discuss the ecumenical agenda of 2023 and the harvesting of the WCC 11 th assembly, as well a group from the Centre for Ecumenism of the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau, and 21 ordinands from the Church of Sweden.

“Nuestras dos iglesias comparten más de 200 años de historia en Europa y en Estados Unidos. El presente acuerdo de plena comunión es un signo más de la comunidad amada que tanto necesitamos en estos tiempos. Nuestra colaboración al abordar los desafíos del cambio climático, la asistencia a los refugiados y la justicia racial nos une aún más profundamente a los esfuerzos ecuménicos mundiales”, dijo Michael Curry, obispo primado de la Iglesia Episcopal. 

„Unsere beiden Kirchen können auf eine 200-jährige gemeinsame Geschichte in Europa und den Vereinigten Staaten zurückblicken. El secretario general en funciones del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), Rev. Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, expresó su agradecimiento por la labor de la arzobispa Dra. Antje Jackelén, primada de la Iglesia de Suecia, al concluir sus años de servicio.

Le père Ioan Sauca, secrétaire général par intérim du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE), a adressé une lettre de remerciements à l’archevêque Antje Jackelén, primat de l’Église de Suède, pour le travail qu’elle a accompli tout au long de son mandat.

Bishop Johan Tyrberg and a delegation from the Church of Sweden in Lund visited the World Council of Churches on 22-23 September, participating in a morning prayer for Christian unity, receiving a guided tour and discussing the theme of the World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly, “Christ’s love moves the world to reconciliation and unity.”
