Study visit from Church of Sweden to the World Council of Churches at the Ecumenical Centre, Geneva, 13 October 2022.

The students and professors were from the Theological Seminary in Uppsala and Lund. Spending two days, the students attended many study sessions at the Bossey Ecumenical Institute, learning interactively with their peers and discussing topics ranging from the theology of creation and the climate crisis, churches in the public space, and peace-building, among others.

On their second day, they received a tour of the Ecumenical Centre, learning about many aspects of the WCC’s programmatic work, and meeting with staff who answered their questions. Students and professors also met with representatives from the ACT Alliance and Lutheran World Federation.

The delegation from the Uniting Church of Sweden met for a working session with WCC deputy general secretary Prof. Dr Isabel Apawo Phiri and staff of the WCC Ecumenical HIV and AIDS Initiatives and Advocacy (WCC-EHAIA).

A delegation from the Uniting Church of Sweden also visited to study the work of the WCC Ecumenical HIV and AIDS Initiatives and Advocacy Progamme, and help plan for its future. 

That delegation also received updates on the WCC 11 Assembly with a focus on Public Witness and Diakonia, as well as other outcomes of the assembly.
