In seiner Rede vor der Kommission für Glauben und Kirchenverfassung des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) im Rahmen der historischen Tagung in Indonesien drückte ÖRK-Generalsekretär Pastor Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay seine Dankbarkeit für die Arbeit der Kommission und seine Hoffnung für die ökumenische Reise im Jahr 2025 aus.

As the World Council of Churches Commission on Faith and Order convened in North Sulawesi, Indonesia from 1-8 February, the gathering was underscored with hope at the heart of a Christian message to the world. 

Speaking to the World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission on Faith and Order during the commission’s historic meeting in Indonesia, WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay expressed gratitude for the commission’s work, and hope for the ecumenical journey in 2025.

Der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) beteiligte sich am Dialog bei der Jugendkonferenz vor der Vollversammlung des Nationalen Kirchenrates Indiens (National Council of Churches in India, NCCI), die 17.–19. April in Hyderabad stattfand.

Die Jugendkonferenz vor der Vollversammlung wurde vom India Peace Centre unter dem Motto „Die Zeit ist gekommen: Die Stunde der Jugend, eine friedliche und nachhaltige Welt aufzubauen“ organisiert.

 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) offered insights and participated in dialogue at the Youth Pre-assembly for National Council of Churches in India (NCCI), held 17-19 April in Hyderabad.

Organized by the India Peace Centre, the Youth Pre-assembly was held under the theme “The Hour has Come: The hour of Youth Building a World of Peace and Sustainability.”

 

Der Nationale Kirchenrat in Korea hat ein „Ostergebet 2023 für Frieden und Wiedervereinigung auf der koreanischen Halbinsel“ veröffentlicht. Die jährliche Feier hat dieses Jahr eine besondere Bedeutung, weil sich das Koreakrieg-Waffenstillstandsabkommen von 1953 zum 70. Mal jährt.

The National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK) has published a “2023 Easter Prayer for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula”, an annual observance which carries special significance this year, 70 years after the Korean War ceasefire established by the 1953 Armistice Agreement.

A Global Peace Prayer on 22 March will draw Christians together in hope for a better future. A communique from a prayer planning committee explained that Christians are called into prayer and advocacy for peace. “In a global context where war and violence abound, the practice of peace has become even more urgent,” reads the message.

Ein weltweites Friedensgebet am 22. März soll christliche Gläubige in der Hoffnung auf eine bessere Zukunft zusammenbringen. Das Kommuniqué eines Planungsausschusses für dieses Friedensgebet erklärt, dass christliche Gläubige zu Gebet und Fürsprachearbeit für Frieden aufgerufen sind. „In einem globalen Kontext, in dem es zu viel Krieg und Gewalt gibt, ist ein Engagement für Frieden dringlicher geworden denn je“, heißt es in dem Kommuniqué.

Inmitten einer der schlimmsten öffentlichen Gesundheitskrisen der Welt halten Christinnen und Christen in Brasilien an ihrer Tradition fest, in der Zeit vor Pfingsten die Gebetswoche für die Einheit der Christen zu feiern. Auch dieses Jahr versammeln sie sich wieder zum Gebet, jedoch ohne physische Zusammenkünfte.  

In the midst of one of the worst public health crises in the world, Christians in Brazil are upholding their tradition of celebrating the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in the lead up to Pentecost. For the second year, they will be gathering in prayer without physical gatherings though. 

The new surge in COVID-19 related hospitalizations and deaths has drastically increased the need for pastoral care almost everywhere. Brazil and Great Britain are two hard-hit countries, where the pandemic has brought existential questions on the table.
