A World Council of Churches (WCC) prayer for World Health Day on 8 April focused on giving hope and courage in a suffering world.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is inviting the global fellowship to share online prayers, tweets, photos and other forms of social media under the hashtag #COVID19prayers for an upcoming special week of prayer from 22-27 March.

Among the massive social dislocations caused by the coronavirus pandemic, perhaps none is as plaintive as those to churches. Around the world, church gatherings, liturgies, fellowship, and service projects have been canceled or postponed or migrated online, precisely when Christian communities and those who rely on them need them most.

The Thursdays in Black campaign for a world free from rape and violence has been intensified in Namibia, bringing awareness of the heightened risk of violence against women and children during the COVID-19 lockdown.
