The World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee released a statement on the human rights situation in the Philippines.

“Nuestras dos iglesias comparten más de 200 años de historia en Europa y en Estados Unidos. El presente acuerdo de plena comunión es un signo más de la comunidad amada que tanto necesitamos en estos tiempos. Nuestra colaboración al abordar los desafíos del cambio climático, la asistencia a los refugiados y la justicia racial nos une aún más profundamente a los esfuerzos ecuménicos mundiales”, dijo Michael Curry, obispo primado de la Iglesia Episcopal. 

„Unsere beiden Kirchen können auf eine 200-jährige gemeinsame Geschichte in Europa und den Vereinigten Staaten zurückblicken. Diese volle Kirchengemeinschaft ist ein weiteres Zeichen unserer hoch geschätzten Gemeinschaft, die wir in diesen Zeiten so dringend brauchen. Unsere Partnerschaft, die sich mit den Herausforderungen des Klimawandels auseinandersetzt, Geflüchtete unterstützt und ethnische Gerechtigkeit will, verbindet uns besonders eng in unseren weltweiten ökumenischen Initiativen“, sagte Erzbischof  Michael Curry, Leitender Bischof und Primas der Episkopalkirche.

Während der Generaldebatte der 52. Sitzung des UNO-Menschenrechtsrates in Genf drückte der nationale Kirchenrat der Philippinen seine Sorge über die anhaltenden Menschenrechtsverletzungen in den Philippinen aus.

Durante el debate general del 52º período de sesiones del Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU en Ginebra, el Consejo Nacional de Iglesias de Filipinas expresó su profunda preocupación por las continuas violaciones de los derechos humanos en el país del sudeste asiático.

Au cours du débat général de la 52^e session du Conseil des droits de l’homme des Nations Unies à Genève, le Conseil national des Églises des Philippines a exprimé sa profonde inquiétude face aux violations persistantes des droits humains aux Philippines.

“Our two churches have more than 200 years of shared history in Europe and the United States. This full-communion agreement is one more sign of the beloved community that we so need in these times. Our partnership in addressing the challenges of climate change, supporting refugees, and racial justice binds us even more deeply to worldwide ecumenical efforts,” said Most Rev. Michael Curry, presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church. 

A “Water Justice Manifesto”—signed by 500 organizations including the World Council of Churches—was presented at the UN Water Conference on 23 March, from the General Assembly Plenary hall  podium,  at the high-level segment, by the People’s Water Forum members. 

During the General Debate of the 52nd Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, National Council of Churches in the Philippines expressed its deep concern over continuing human rights violations in the Philippines.
