The result of the work of an international group drawn from different regions and confessional traditions, the text is intended as a resource for churches and Christians worldwide in advance of the WCC’s 11th Assembly, to take place in Karlsruhe, Germany, from 31 August to 8 September 2022. It offers biblical and theological reflections on the assembly theme, inspired by a biblical verse – “For the love of Christ urges us on” (2 Cor. 5:14) – against the backdrop of critical issues confronting churches and humanity as a whole. The text is available initially in four languages – English, French, German, and Spanish.

In four languages, a newly released publication developed by the assembly’s worship planning group, Celebrate Christ’s Love!, expands the opportunity to prepare spiritually for the assembly.

This publication contains some of the components of the final spiritual-life resource that will be used at the assembly. It invites assembly participants and the wider fellowship to celebrate the love of God that we find in Christ through prayer, song, and reflecting on Jesus’ preaching and healing as portrayed in the Gospels.

Padre Ioan Sauca: “Dios está del lado de los que sufren”

El Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), desde el primer día de la guerra en Ucrania e incluso en los meses anteriores, ha estado trabajando y orando fervientemente por la paz en este conflicto y en todo el mundo. Desde el principio, el CMI ha pedido el cese inmediato de las hostilidades armadas, que se detenga la guerra y ha hecho un llamado para que se ponga fin de inmediato a los ataques indiscriminados que afectan cada vez más a la población civil de Ucrania. El servicio de noticias del CMI se reunió en línea con el secretario general en funciones del CMI, el Rev. Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, para conocer las últimas novedades sobre la labor del CMI.

С первого дня войны в Украине и еще за месяцы до ее начала Всемирный совет церквей (ВСЦ) усердно работал и искренне молился о достижении мира в этом конфликте и во всем мире. С самого начала ВСЦ призывал к немедленному прекращению военных действий, к окончанию войны, а также к незамедлительному прекращению неизбирательных нападений, оказывающих все более серьезное воздействие на мирное население Украины. Пресс-служба ВСЦ провела онлайн-встречу с исполняющим обязанности генерального секретаря ВСЦ преподобным профессором д-ром Иоанном Саука, чтобы узнать последние новости о работе ВСЦ.

С момента начала военного наступления России на Украину 24 февраля, по приблизительным оценкам, конфликт затронул более 18 миллионов человек (41% населения Украины). Почти каждый четвертый украинец был вынужден покинуть свой дом, около 6,5 миллиона человек стали внутренне перемещенными лицами, а более 3,5 миллиона человек сбежали из страны.

Desde que comenzó la ofensiva militar rusa en Ucrania, el 24 de febrero, se calcula que más de 18 millones de personas (el 41% de la población ucraniana) se han visto afectadas por el conflicto. Casi uno de cada cuatro ucranianos ha tenido que abandonar su hogar. Cerca de 6,5 millones de personas se han desplazado dentro del país, y más de 3,5 millones han huido más allá de sus fronteras.

For each assembly, the central committee submits an accountability report, describing and offering an assessment of the activities of the WCC between the assemblies; in this case, since the 10th Assembly, in Busan, Republic of Korea, in late 2013.

The report “Pilgrims on the Path of Peace – The Journey of the WCC from Busan to Karlsruhe,” is now available online for WCC member churches, ecumenical partners, and other global pilgrims. The WCC central committee received the report in February.
