The World Social Forum (WSF) 2024 is scheduled to take place from February 15-19 in Nepal. The WSF serves as an open space and platform for the convergence of a diverse range of participants, including social movements, laborers, farmers, civil society groups, marginalized communities, and those affected by the impacts of neoliberal capitalism and privatization. 

A day-long seminar on 12 May, offered in a hybrid format, will help churches and faith-based communities respond more effectively to the challenges of environmental degradation and climate change.

Speakers and participants will explore the question: What does it mean to be the church within the contemporary context of world Christianity?

Digital instruments – Blessing or Curse?

On Tuesday, 29 January 29 2019, the Fifth Annual Symposium on the Role of Religion and Faith-based Organizations in International Affairs will focus on financing for sustainable development and build on this vision of an economy of life as the flourishing of all life. Panel discussions will consider the broad issues of economic justice as addressed in the course of human rights-based development, governance and accountability in the global financial architecture, the implications for environmental sustainability, gender justice and financing social protection.

International forum will aim at promoting inter-contextual and cross-cultural dialogue on topics such as social service, sustainable development and peace among Chinese, European and global NGOs, government authorities and academia.

This seminar explores the role religion plays in providing primary health care today and in the past, by analysing the work of medical missionaries and faith-based organisations.

In the context of the 70th anniversary of the World Council of Churches, the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace and the 2030 sustainable development agenda, an international consultation will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the WCC’s Decade of the Churches in Solidarity with Women (1988-1998). The consultation will reflect on the achievements and challenges in building a just community of women and men and to strengthen ecumenical collaboration in reading the signs of our times in order to map the future direction of our work.

Many WCC member churches and partner organizations have indicated that they either have experience in promoting meaningful participation of children/adolescents or would appreciate support in this area of the Churches' Commitments to Children. The webinar will include information on upcoming opportunities for churches. It also aims to foster a network of churches engaged in special efforts to give children/adolescents a space and voice in churches and in society at large.
