On 29 November, World Council of Churches (WCC) staff held a farewell prayer for staff members who are retiring or moving on to serve elsewhere, including WCC acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca; WCC deputy general secretary Prof. Dr Isabel Apawo Phiri; interim deputy general secretary and Faith and Order director Rev. Dr  Odair Pedroso Mateus; Rev. Dr Risto Jukko, director of the WCC Commission on World Mission and Evangelism; Diana Chabloz, assistant to the general secretary; and Marc Enzo Bellingoi, project assistant for the Assembly Office.

At a tray lunch organized by the World Council of Churches and the Lutheran World Federation on 28 November, leaders of global faith-based organizations, UN agencies, and researchers together explored the progress made in preventing gender-based violence, as well as the work ahead.

A newly released volume, “Transformative Spiritualities for the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace,” provides a selection of reflections from indigenous perspectives to women’s voices, from black communities ́ to campesino/as ́ struggles, from specific Christian traditions to sister faiths.

The joint publication of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and ACT Alliance, offering resources to strengthen the diaconal capacity of the churches and to advance cooperation with their ecumenical partners, will be presented online on 9 June at 15.00 CET.

A World Council of Churches webinar, held on the UN International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade on 25 March, offered prayers for the victims of slavery and stories of courage from descendants.

In the lead-up to International Women’s Day, World Council of Churches (WCC) deputy general secretary Prof. Dr Isabel Apawo Phiri offered reflections on “Women, Pain and Resilience from the African and ecumenical perspective.” The webinar, held on 4 March, was organized by the World Union of Catholic Women's Organisations in collaboration with the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.
