Ein Webinar der Reihe „Erinnerung an historische Massaker“ befasste sich am 27. September mit Lateinamerika. Die Rednerinnen und Redner sprachen über die Grausamkeiten, die im Namen der Christianisierung gegen indigene Bevölkerungen verübt wurden, über den transatlantischen Sklavenhandel, die skrupellosen Militärdiktaturen in Südamerika in den 1960er–80er Jahren und die Massentötung an Haitianerinnen und Haitianern in der Dominikanischen Republik im Jahr 1937.

Lors d’un webinaire organisé le 27 septembre dans le cadre de la série «Se souvenir des massacres passés» et axé sur l’Amérique latine, des orateurs et oratrices sont revenu-e-s sur les atrocités commises contre les populations autochtones au nom de la christianisation, la traite des esclaves transatlantique, les dictatures militaires impitoyables des années 1960-1980 en Amérique latine et le massacre des Haïtiens de 1937 en République dominicaine.

A 27 September webinar, part of the ongoing “Remembering Past Massacres” series, focused on Latin America, with speakers reflecting on the atrocities committed against indigenous populations in the name of Christianisation, the trans-Atlantic slave trade, the ruthless military dictatorships in South America during the 1960s-80s, and the 1937 massacre of Haitians in the Dominican Republic.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) has paid tribute to its former general secretary, Rev. Dr Philip Potter, who was born on 19 August 1921, and led the council from 1972 to 1984, a time of global religious and socio-political change.

Der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) hat sich mit den Menschen in Haiti solidarisch erklärt und betet für die Bevölkerung und die Kirchen in Haiti, nachdem die Insel am 14. August von einem Erdbeben der Stärke 7.2 getroffen wurde. 

Die haitianische Regierung hat den Notstand ausgerufen. Mehr als 1.300 Menschen verloren ihr Leben, Tausende wurden verletzt.

Le Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) a exprimé sa solidarité et dédié ses prières aux personnes et aux Églises d’Haïti à la suite du tremblement de terre de magnitude 7,2 qui a frappé ce pays le 14 août, faisant plus de 1 300 morts et plusieurs milliers de blessés.

Le gouvernement haïtien a déclaré l’état d’urgence.

El Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) ofreció oraciones y solidaridad al pueblo y las iglesias de Haití tras el seísmo de magnitud 7,2 que sacudió el país el 14 de agosto causando 1300 muertos y miles de heridos. 

A raíz de la catástrofe, el Gobierno declaró el estado de emergencia.
