His Eminence Metropolitan Zachariah Mar Nicholovos of the Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church celebrated his Episcopal Silver Jubilee, or 25 years in ministry, on 17 November. The WCC Executive Committee met in Uppsala, Sweden from 1-8 November to approve the 2019 programme plans and budget, follow up and decide on a variety of assembly matters, review the WCC strategic plan, discuss world affairs and issue seven statements in response to current situations. The Executive Committee also discerned the way forward for the WCC’s Communication Strategy.

Le Comité exécutif du COE s’est réuni à Uppsala, en Suède, du 1er au 8 novembre pour approuver la planification et le budget pour 2019, assurer un suivi et prendre des décisions concernant divers sujets en lien avec l’Assemblée, réviser le plan stratégique du COE, débattre des affaires internationales et émettre sept déclarations en réponse aux situations actuelles. Le Comité exécutif a également déterminé la voie à suivre concernant la stratégie de communication du COE.

In seiner Predigt in der Kathedrale von Uppsala in Schweden am 4. November erinnerte Pastor Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit, Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) daran, dass am 4. Juli 1968 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in ebendieser Kirche im Rahmen des Eröffnungsgottesdienstes der 4. ÖRK-Vollversammlung hätte predigen sollen.

In a sermon in the Uppsala Cathedral in Sweden on 4 November, WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit remembered that, on 4 July 1968, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. should have entered the very same cathedral to preach at the opening service of the WCC Fourth Assembly.
