The Atlantic School of Theology in Nova Scotia, Canada, celebrated the 70th anniversary of the World Council of Churches (WCC) on 22 November at a chapel service. A local ecumenical group comprising Protestant, Roman Catholic, Unitarian and Jewish members attended the service as a special addition to their regular meetings.
Also in Canada, the Canadian Council of Churches held its annual autumn Governing Board meeting in Ontario from 21-23 November. Board members were pleased to hear from WCC representatives including the WCC's North American president, Bishop Mark MacDonald, who spoke of the growing need for ecumenism in an increasingly divided global landscape. The meeting brought together representatives from more than a dozen denominations across Canada.
