The World Council of Churches hosted 60 visitors during the week of 11-14 March.

In a contribution to the Church of Sweden’s publication “150 Years of International Engagement,” World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay celebrates the church’s vital legacy and reflects on its evolving character.

Julia Rensberg, a passionate advocate for youth and Indigenous Sami communities from the Church of Sweden, took centre stage at the Faith Pavilion's side event on “Interfaith Youth Dialogue on Climate Justice, Promoting Resilience and Hope.”

“Every Picture Tells A Story” photo exhibit by Most Rev. Dr Martin Modéus, archbishop of the Church of Sweden and primate of Uppsala, will open on 29 November in the Ecumenical Centre.

WCC progamme director for Public Witness and Diakonia Rev. Dr Kenneth Mtata was part of a panel reviewing and reflecting on the book "White saviourism in International Development,” by Themrise Khan et al, at the 2023 Gothenburg Book Fair.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) hosted Bishop Dr Jukka Keskitalo and Rev. Pekka Mustakallio from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, to discuss the ecumenical agenda of 2023 and the harvesting of the WCC 11 th assembly, as well a group from the Centre for Ecumenism of the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau, and 21 ordinands from the Church of Sweden.

El presente acuerdo de plena comunión es un signo más de la comunidad amada que tanto necesitamos en estos tiempos. Nuestra colaboración al abordar los desafíos del cambio climático, la asistencia a los refugiados y la justicia racial nos une aún más profundamente a los esfuerzos ecuménicos mundiales”, dijo Michael Curry, obispo primado de la Iglesia Episcopal. 

„Unsere beiden Kirchen können auf eine 200-jährige gemeinsame Geschichte in Europa und den Vereinigten Staaten zurückblicken. Diese volle Kirchengemeinschaft ist ein weiteres Zeichen unserer hoch geschätzten Gemeinschaft, die wir in diesen Zeiten so dringend brauchen. Unsere Partnerschaft, die sich mit den Herausforderungen des Klimawandels auseinandersetzt, Geflüchtete unterstützt und ethnische Gerechtigkeit will, verbindet uns besonders eng in unseren weltweiten ökumenischen Initiativen“, sagte Erzbischof  Michael Curry, Leitender Bischof und Primas der Episkopalkirche.

Notre partenariat répond à l’enjeu des changements climatiques, soutient les réfugié-e-s et la justice raciale nous engage encore davantage à participer aux efforts œcuméniques mondiaux», déclare le révérend Michael Curry, évêque président et primat de l’Église épiscopale.

This full-communion agreement is one more sign of the beloved community that we so need in these times. Our partnership in addressing the challenges of climate change, supporting refugees, and racial justice binds us even more deeply to worldwide ecumenical efforts,” said Most Rev. Michael Curry, presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church. 

Der geschäftsführende Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK), Priester Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, und der gewählte ÖRK-Generalsekretär Pastor Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay drückten ihre Dankbarkeit aus für den neuen Erzbischof der Kirche von Schweden und Primas von Uppsala, Dr. Martin Modéus.

El secretario general en funciones del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), el Rev. Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, y el secretario general electo del CMI, el Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay, expresaron su gratitud por el nuevo arzobispo de la Iglesia de Suecia y primado de Uppsala, el Dr. Martin Modéus.
