“COP27 is a critical occasion for governments to together re-envision, develop, commit to and implement a roadmap towards a fossil fuel-free, post-growth, equitable and sustainable tomorrow,” said Bishop Arnold Temple of the Methodist Church in Sierra Leone, representing the interfaith liaison group, to the High-Level Ministerial Segment of the 27^th Session of Conference of the Parties (COP27).

During an ecumenical prayer, people of many faiths gathered during COP27 to confess, lament, and express hope for the future. 

The World Council of Churches and its partners hosted a side event during COP27 that explored “Delivering the promise: How to ensure present and future adaptation needs are addressed.”

Three weeks have now passed since this year’s edition of the World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden was wrapped up and delegates from all over the world headed home, inspired to “float” the issues, as the WCC Ecumenical Water Network chairperson, Bishop Arnold Temple from Sierra Leone, put it.

„Als Professor für Wirtschaft und Wirtschaftsethik mit einem theologischen Hintergrund und als Dekan des Ökumenischen Seminars für Leitung, Wirtschaft und Management (GEM School) kann ich sagen, dass die pluralistische Wirtschaft – die als internationale Initiative von Studierenden neue Bekanntheit genießt – ein Versuch ist, die neoliberale monolithische Wirtschaft herauszufordern. Es ist an der Zeit, auf eine neue Art und Weise über die Wirtschaft nachzudenken“, sagte Prof. Martin Büscher, erster Lehrstuhl für Wirtschaftswissenschaften und Wirtschafts- und Unternehmensethik am Institut für Diakoniewissenschaft und Diakoniemanagement an der Kirchlichen Hochschule Wuppertal/Bethel (Deutschland) zum Abschluss des Seminars für Leitung, Wirtschaft und Management (Governance, Economics and Management, GEM), das vom 22. August bis 2. September in Hong Kong stattfand.

“As a professor of economics and economic ethics with a theological background, and as dean of the GEM school, I can say that pluralistic economics – getting new prominence as an international student initiative – is an attempt to challenge neo-liberal monolithic economics. It is time for new thinking about economics”, stated Prof. Martin Büscher, first chair for economics and business ethics at the Institute for Diakonia and Management at the Protestant University of Wuppertal/Bethel, Germany, at the conclusion of the Governance, Economics and Management School held in Hong Kong on 22 August-2 September.

“Como profesor de Economía y Ética Económica con formación teológica, y como decano de la Escuela Ecuménica de Gobernanza, Economía y Gestión, puedo decir que las economías pluralistas –que están ganando protagonismo como iniciativa estudiantil internacional– son un intento de cuestionar las economías monolíticas neoliberales. Es hora de que haya una nueva forma de entender la economía”, declaró el Prof. Martin Büscher, primer titular de la cátedra de Economía y Ética Empresarial del Instituto de Diaconía y Gestión de la Universidad Protestante de Wuppertal/Bethel (Alemania), al concluir la Escuela Ecuménica de Gobernanza, Economía y Gestión que se celebró en Hong Kong del 22 de agosto al 2 de septiembre.
