From 4 to 9 December 2023, thousands of people convened in Harare, Zimbabwe, for the 22nd International Conference on Aids and STIs in Africa (ICASA). Scientists, medical experts, advocates, people living with HIV, and civil society organizations came together under the theme “AIDS IS NOT OVER: Address inequalities; accelerate inclusion and innovation.” Participants from many faith traditions were a meaningful part of many of these representative groups but also took up a space of their own.

“COP27 is a critical occasion for governments to together re-envision, develop, commit to and implement a roadmap towards a fossil fuel-free, post-growth, equitable and sustainable tomorrow,” said Bishop Arnold Temple of the Methodist Church in Sierra Leone, representing the interfaith liaison group, to the High-Level Ministerial Segment of the 27^th Session of Conference of the Parties (COP27).

Der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen und seine Partner organisierten während der COP27 eine Parallelveranstaltung zum Thema: "Das Versprechen einlösen: Wie man sicherstellt, dass gegenwärtige und zukünftige Anpassungserfordernisse berücksichtigt werden".

Le Conseil œcuménique des Églises et ses partenaires ont coorganisé un événement parallèle à la COP27 sur le thème «Une promesse à tenir: s’assurer de répondre aux besoins en adaptation actuels et à venir». 

El Consejo Mundial de Iglesias y sus asociados organizaron un evento paralelo durante la COP27 en torno al tema “Cumplir la promesa: cómo garantizar la satisfacción de las necesidades de adaptación presentes y futuras”.

Menschen verschiedener Glaubensrichtungen trafen sich am COP27 während eines ökumenischen Gebets um zu beichten, zu klagen und Hoffnung für die Zukunft auszudrücken. 

Lors d’une prière œcuménique, des personnes de nombreuses confessions se sont réunies pendant la COP27 pour se confesser, exprimer leur déploration et formuler leur espoir en l’avenir. 

Durante la COP27, fieles de muchas religiones se reunieron con motivo de una oración ecuménica para confesar, lamentarse y expresar esperanza de cara al futuro.

During an ecumenical prayer, people of many faiths gathered during COP27 to confess, lament, and express hope for the future. 

The World Council of Churches and its partners hosted a side event during COP27 that explored “Delivering the promise: How to ensure present and future adaptation needs are addressed.”

Las dos iniciativas del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) sobre el VIH se reunieron para revisar y celebrar su labor crucial y transformadora, y seguir planificando una intervención reforzada del CMI en materia de VIH a través de la nueva Comisión de las Iglesias para la Salud y la Sanación.

Zwei HIV-Initiativen des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) haben auf einer gemeinsamen Konferenz die wichtige und lebensverändernde Arbeit dieser beiden Projekte Revue passieren lassen, ihre Erfolge gewürdigt und weitere Planungen für eine entschlossenere Antwort auf HIV und AIDS innerhalb der neuen Kommission der Kirchen für Gesundheit und Heilen auf den Weg gebracht.
