Nikolaos Manginas: his camera flash may be extinguished, but his gaze lives on

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is mourning the loss of Nikolaos Manginas, who documented the actions, contributions and gatherings of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for more than 30 years. 

The official photographer of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Manginas leaves behind a photo collection that is a deeply meaningful legacy not only for the Ecumenical Patriarchate but also for Orthodox churches worldwide and the entire ecumenical fellowship.

WCC Commission on World Mission and Evangelism plans assembly contributions

In an online meeting on 4-5 and 8-9 March, the World Council of Churches Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME) reflected on the impact of COVID-19, approved an 18-month study process with a centenary celebration of the International Missionary Council, and planned for its contributions to the WCC 11th Assembly in 2022.

Anglican-Orthodox dialogue will be focus of third WCC webinar on bilateral dialogues

A 9 March webinar—the third in a series of seven on bilateral dialogues—will focus on “Anglican-Orthodox Dialogue: History, Results, Reception” as well as the Canterbury Statement “Stewards of Creation: A Hope-Filled Ecology,” a statement on ecology jointly published by the Anglican Communion and the Orthodox Churches in October 2020.
