Besides serving in different capacities within the Methodist Church in India, Masih also served as the president of the Church’s Auxiliary for Social Action Eastern Zone as well as a leader of the National Missionary Society of India. He also served as secretary of the Bible Society of India, Jabalpur and as a professor in North India Theological College.

Expressing deep sadness at the passing away of Masih, WCC central committee member Bishop M.A. Daniel of the Methodist Church in India, Telengana region, said, “Bishop Masih was a dedicated and progressive leader of the Methodist Church in India, who dreamt of a greater church presence in India. We lost a great leader in him and I personally lost a good friend.”

Daniel will be stepping in as the new president of the Council of Bishops at the Methodist Church in India. “He was planning to introduce some policy papers at the forthcoming general conference of the Methodist Church in India. The onus will be upon us to fulfil his dreams for the betterment of the Methodist Church in India,” Daniel added.

WCC acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca said, “The Methodist Church in India is one of the oldest member churches of WCC in India. The WCC mourns the untimely demise of Bishop Masih. His contributions to the Global Methodist Council will be deeply missed.

“My personal condolences are with the bereaved family, his wife Mrs Angela Z. Masih, his two sons, daughter-in-law and a grandson,” Sauca added.
