On 26 December, the theological community mourned the passing of Rev. Prof. Dr Daniel Buda, dean of the Faculty of Theology Andrei Șaguna at the Lucian Blaga University, Sibiu. 

The World Council of Churches (WCC)  has elected H.E. Metropolitan Nifon of Târgoviște, Romanian Orthodox Church, to serve as vice moderator of the central committee, fulfilling the service of the late Metropolitan Gennadios, and will serve on the leadership of the WCC central committee.

After a delegation from the World Council of Churches (WCC) and ACT Alliance visited Hungary, Romania and Ukraine last week, the group came away with reflections on how churches are making a difference in the lives of thousands upon thousands of people fleeing the war.

As the years change over the World Council of Churches interim general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca on 31 December condemned the vicious Yemen attack hitting civilians. Rev. Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca has been appointed acting World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary beginning 1 April. Sauca, who currently serves as deputy general secretary for the WCC programme on Ecumenical Formation and Bossey Ecumenical Institute, will hold the general secretary post until the WCC Executive Committee meets in June.

Church leaders in Europe stand together for an approach on refugees and migrants “based on dignity, respect, and where possible compassion”.
