WCC extends prayers for lasting peace in Haiti

At diakonia conference in Norway, world’s pressing challenges and gratitude share the stage

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay served as a keynote speaker at the Ninth Conference for Research in Diakonia and Christian Social Practice, hosted by the International Society for the Research and Study of Diakonia and Christian Social Practice and VID Specialized University. The theme of the conference was Contested Spaces of Diaconia – Seeking Justice, Safety and Well-Being.”

Applications invited for WCC Eco-School for Europe and North America region

The fifth edition of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Eco-School on Water, Food, and Climate Justice, will be held 24-31 July in Crete, Greece. Convening in-person in the Orthodox Academy of Crete, Greece, the event is open to young people under 30 years of age from the Europe and  North America region only. 

WCC executive committee appoints three new WCC staff leaders

The World Council of Churches (WCC) executive committee has appointed, by consensus, three new WCC staff leaders: a programme director for Unity and Mission; a programme director for Public Witness and Diakonia; and a director of the Commission on World Mission and Evangelism.

En una carta dirigida a Su Santidad el patriarca Kirill de Moscú y toda Rusia el 19 de abril, el secretario general en funciones del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), Rev. Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, instó al patriarca Kirill a “intervenir y pedir públicamente un alto el fuego de al menos unas horas durante la celebración del culto de Resurrección”.

WCC stands in solidarity with victims of major flood in Brazil
