Pendant la semaine précédent la célébration de la Fête des mères en Suisse, le COE accueillera à son Centre œcuménique à Genève une séance de tricotage organisée par l'association Hope for the Babies International (HOBI) pour célébrer le 5e anniversaire de son travail en faveur des femmes en Afghanistan.

During a one-week summer school, communication and theology students will address questions of media and globalization, which are directly related to the theme of religion in the mass media. They will be introduced to different communication theories and get to know the challenges facing communication in the ecumenical movement and in interfaith dialogue.

The year 2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. A chain of commemorative events, starting in Geneva, will connect cities in the Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Switzerland, Slovenia, Ireland and Germany. Each stop-over will last 36 hours: regional and ecumenical partners will invite people to a festive occasion with numerous activities, in order to discover local traces of Reformation history.

Para conmemorar los 500 años de la Reforma el “Itinerario Europeo de la Reforma” comenzará en noviembre de 2016, en Ginebra, para emprender una gira por varios lugares emblemáticos hasta mayo de 2017.

L’année 2017 marque le cinq-centième anniversaire de la Réforme. Une chaîne de commémorations reliera des villes des Pays-Bas, d’Italie, de Hongrie, de Suisse, de Slovénie, d’Irlande et d’Allemagne. Chaque étape durera 36 heures: des partenaires régionaux et œcuméniques inviteront les gens à des temps festifs comportant de multiples activités afin de découvrir des traces locales de l’histoire de la Réforme.

Young people are very much affected by the violence and tensions along religious lines that we are witnessing today in the Middle East but also in Europe, Asia, North America. The seminar is an interfaith initiative jointly organized by the Egyptian Muslim Centre Al Azhar (mosque and university), and the WCC.

The workshop aims at strengthening ecumenical advocacy for peace by bringing key stakeholders together to share existing initiatives and best practices on advocacy for peace in the Middle East and to develop a joint advocacy plan for peacebuilding in the Middle East.

International affairs have very direct intersections with religion. Several Christian organizations that work with the United Nations have decided to address these intersections through an Annual Symposium on the Role of Religion and Faith-Based Organizations in International Affairs. The thematic focus in 2016 will be on religion, violence and extremism.
