Diese bekannte Serie ist eine Art von Sozialkommentar und erörtert die Frage, wie sich ungleiche Lebensverhältnisse besonders auf vulnerable Gruppen auswirken können. In Squid Game geht es um Armut, Jugend, Gewalt, Überleben und Eroberung politischer Macht – diese Themen waren der kreative Rahmen für einen Blick auf die aktuelle Situation nicht nur der jungen Menschen in Korea, sondern auch in vielen anderen Ländern besonders im globalen Süden.

À l’occasion de 11^e Assemblée du Conseil œcuménique des Églises, un groupe de jeunes coréen-ne-s de Église méthodiste de Corée a animé un atelier vêtu-e-s des costumes des personnages de la série Squid Game diffusée sur Netflix. La célèbre série prend la forme d’une fresque sociale dépeignant les inégalités vécues par les personnes vulnérables. Y sont abordées les questions de pauvreté, de jeunesse, de violence, de survie et de tractations politiques, donnant à voir un cadre créatif permettant de s’immerger dans la situation que vivent actuellement les jeunes en Corée, mais aussi dans de nombreux pays dans le monde et en particulier dans le Sud.

During the World Council of Churches 11th Assembly, a group of Korean youth from the Korean Methodist Church hosted a workshop—and they dressed like characters from the Netflix show, Squid Game. The well-known series is a form of social commentary on how inequalities affect vulnerable people. The show addresses poverty, youth, violence, survival, and political conquest—and this provided a creative framework for looking into the current situations of not only Korean youth but also those of many other countries, especially in the Global South.
