Students from the Bossey Ecumenical Institute deepened their understanding of the ecumenical movement as they helped lead prayers during the World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee meeting, held via videoconference 9-15 February.

At the end of a 9 February press conference — which followed a long day of videoconference meetings — Dr Agnes Abuom and Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauce fielded a surprise question: what first got them involved in the ecumenical movement?

Bernard Mushi, from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, participated in a study visit to Rome 20-27 January, as part of pursuing a Complementary Certificate in Ecumenical Studies at the Bossey Ecumenical Institute.

Gathered at the Ecumenical Institute Bossey on 27 January, a group of more than 30 Bossey students joined faculty members, partners and friends of Bossey in celebrating the experience of “a school of life,” as they earned their post-graduate Certificates in Ecumenical Studies.

Focolare students from the Montet Center of Formation and students from the Bossey Ecumenical Institute gathered to share the experience of multi-cultural community life and to pray together on 16 November.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) website will be included in the archives of the Swiss National Library as part of a collection of websites of “patrimonial importance” in Switzerland. “The Swiss National Library collects specifically non-commercial websites, that are relevant to the nation’s heritage,” explained Anne-Emmanuelle Tankam-Tene, archivist at the WCC.

As the journey continues towards the WCC 11^th Assembly in Karlsruhe in 2022, a World Council of Churches consultation is now taking place in Berlin, Germany, to reflect and strategize on the future of the churches’ health ministry.
