God, you are our safe place to hide, ready to help when we need you. We stand at the cliff-edge of doom, in seastorm and earthquake, Before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains – fearless and courageous.	Jacob-wrestling God fight for us, God-of-Angel-Armies come protect us.

Sung Call to Prayer         ‘Come Ye Disconsolate’ (v. 1)

1. Come, ye disconsolate, where'er ye languish;

Come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel.

Here bring your wounded hearts; here tell your anguish.

Earth has no sorrow that heav'n cannot heal.

Psalmody

Liturgist:            God, you are our safe place to hide,

ready to help when we need you.

We stand at the cliff-edge of doom,

   in seastorm and earthquake,

Before the rush and roar of oceans,

the tremors that shift mountains – fearless and courageous.

ALL:                     Jacob-wrestling God fight for us,

                             God-of-Angel-Armies come protect us
.

L:                          River fountains splash joy, cooling God’s city,

this sacred haunt of the Most High.

God lives here, the streets are safe,

God at your service from crack of dawn.

Godless nations rant and rave, kings and kingdoms threaten,

but earth does anything he says.

ALL:                     Jacob-wrestling God fight for us,

                             God-of-Angel-Armies come protect us
.

Sung Response               Come Ye Disconsolate (v. 2-3)

2. Joy of the desolate, Light of the straying,

Hope of the penitent, fadeless and pure!

Here speaks the Comforter, tenderly saying,

"Earth has no sorrow that heav'n cannot cure."

3. Here see the Bread of Life; see waters flowing

Forth from the throne of God, pure from above.

Come to the feast of love; come, ever knowing

Earth has no sorrow but heav'n can remove.

Scripture            Luke 8:43-44

Now there was a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years; and though she had spent all she had on physicians, no one could cure her.  She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his clothes, and immediately her hemorrhage stopped.

Question for Reflection (meditate in silence)

In what practical ways can we show solidarity for persons living with HIV or AIDS, and work together to end stigma due to infections with COVID-19, HIV or AIDS within our different communities?

Intercession      O Lord, we are grateful for the friendly and hospitable people and churches in Myanmar and Thailand. We pray for the peaceful and harmonious coexistence amongst diverse and indigenous communities.

ALL                      Healing God, renew and restore us your creation!

We realize that in Myanmar about 20,000 persons die from HIV/AIDS related illnesses annually, and we crave your healing grace and intervention. For the youth who comprise the highest at-risk population in Thailand, we invite your intervention, support and healing grace through each of us.

We thank you for those diagnosed with HIV and AIDS who are able to find and who can afford access to antiretroviral medication and find life in fullness; we are grateful for prevention and treatment programmes in Thailand and Myanmar, as well as across the globe. We also thank you for the tireless dedication of those who work on the frontlines – especially our EHAIA colleagues - providing support, accompaniment, trauma healing and transformation and medical help as needed.

ALL                      Healing God, renew and restore us your creation!

For all the new initiatives aimed at increasing awareness and to provide accompaniment, faith-based and secular, especially those spearheaded by our young people; we pray for ongoing support and creative guidance. Bless the Christian communities that they continue to be a faithful witness in their multi-ethnic and multi-religious contexts.

ALL                       May we all recommit to end stigma and increase accompaniment to all those affected by HIV/AIDS. This we pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
