Within the framework of the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace, this publication is a reflection on the lived experiences of the pilgrimage from the perspective of the people and churches from Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Korean Peninsula, Palestine and Israel, South Sudan, Syria, Ukraine and Colombia.

It consists of an overview of the peace-building process in each country since the 10th Assembly and practical steps churches can take together toward the 12th Assembly.

On the International Day of Living Together in Peace declared by the United Nations, members of the World Council of Churches (WCC) fellowship from countries troubled by war and conflict gathered to pray for sustainable peace in the world.

Churches´Commission for Migrants in Europe release European church leaders’ statement on response of Europe to refugees

The Churches' Commission for Migrants in Europe - CCME released a statement that speaks about the response of Europe to refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine. The statement addresses the concerns of discriminatory treatment of non-Ukrainians and minority ethnic people in this context and the more general question that the generosity shown in recent weeks often has not been extended to those fleeing from elsewhere.

Below, Dr Torsten Moritz, general secretary at the Churches' Commission for Migrants in Europe, reflects on why church leaders requested such a statement, and what lies at the heart of some of their different inputs.

ÖRK zeigt sich besorgt über die Zukunft christliche Präsenz und christlichen Zeugnisses in Syrien

Am 5. April haben sich die Führungsspitze des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) und Angehörige des Personals mit Vertretern und Vertreterinnen der ÖRK-Mitgliedskirchen in Syrien getroffen, die zu Konsultationen über die seit langem bestehende programmatische Arbeit zu Syrien in das Ökumenische Institut in Bossey gekommen waren. Der geschäftsführende ÖRK-Generalsekretär, Priester Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, hatte dieses Treffen einberufen.

WCC expresses concern for Christian presence and witness in Syria

On 5 April, World Council of Churches (WCC) leadership and staff met with representatives of WCC member churches from Syria, who came to the Bossey Ecumenical Institute for consultations on the WCCs longstanding programmatic work relating to Syria. WCC acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca, was the convener of the meeting.
