Einheit und Solidarität in Christus gegen populistische Trends waren die bestimmenden Themen der Eröffnungsbotschaft für das Ökumenische Wochenende in Uppsala, Schweden am 3.–4. November. Unter dem Motto „Seht! Ich mache alles neu!“ haben sich 150 Gäste versammelt, um sich über die aktuellen Herausforderungen der Ökumene auszutauschen.

Unity and solidarity in Christ against populist trends was at the core of the opening message for an Ecumenical Weekend in Uppsala, Sweden on 3-4 November. Under the theme ”Behold, I make everything new!”, 150 guests gathered to reflect on current challenges for ecumenism.

Unidad y solidaridad en Cristo contra las tendencias populistas fue el núcleo del mensaje de apertura del Fin de semana ecuménico en Upsala, Suecia, el 3 y 4 de noviembre. Con el tema “Mira, yo hago nuevas todas las cosas”, 150 invitados se reunieron para reflexionar sobre los actuales desafíos para el ecumenismo.

L'unité et la solidarité en Christ comme instruments de lutte contre les tendances populistes étaient au cœur du message d'ouverture du week-end œcuménique, qui s'est tenu les 3 et 4 novembre derniers à Uppsala (Suède). Réunies autour du thème «Voici, je fais toutes choses nouvelles», 150 personnes ont été conviées à réfléchir aux défis auxquels l'œcuménisme est actuellement confronté.

In writing a story for the 70th anniversary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), Elias Crisóstomo Abramides of Argentina, from the Ecumenical Patriarchate, is writing the story of his life. His service at the WCC opened for him the gate to meeting and loving “the very good Creation of God”: love, respect and admiration for the life of his neighbours and for all creation.

Son service au sein du COE a pour lui ouvert la porte à la rencontre et à l'amour de «la très belle Création de Dieu»: amour, respect et admiration pour la vie de ses prochains et pour toute la Création.

The report issued by Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission in June 2015 on abuse of aboriginal children in church-run residential schools included a call for non-aboriginal Canadians to learn about the impact of European settlers and their descendants on the country’s indigenous peoples. Church people have taken that call seriously.

Journeying from urban centres and small Pacific islands, mountain ranges and rural towns, more than 170 Indigenous people gathered this week at the mouth of the river that flows from traditional Sami lands. Their conference, “Reconciliation Processes and Indigenous Peoples: Truth, Healing and Transformation,” brought together representatives of more than two dozen Indigenous societies in connection with the WCC Central Committee meetings in Trondheim, Norway.

Procedentes de centros urbanos y pequeñas islas del Pacífico, desde cordilleras y pueblos rurales, más de 170 indígenas se han dado cita esta semana en la desembocadura del río que fluye desde las tierras que tradicionalmente han pertenecido al pueblo sami. Su conferencia, “Los procesos de reconciliación y los pueblos indígenas: verdad, sanación y transformación”, reunió a representantes de más de una veintena de sociedades indígenas con ocasión del Comité Central del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias, en Trondheim (Noruega).

Partis de centres urbains ou de petites îles du Pacifique, de massifs montagneux ou de communes rurales, plus de 170 autochtones se sont réunis cette semaine dans l’estuaire du fleuve qui parcourt les terres traditionnelles des Samis. Leur conférence, intitulée «Processus de réconciliation et populations autochtones: vérité, guérison et transformation», a rassemblé des représentantes et des représentants de plus d’une vingtaine de sociétés autochtones en marge des réunions du Comité central du COE à Trondheim, en Norvège.

Experiences of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people around the world will be front and centre at an upcoming international conference in Trondheim, Norway. The Sami Church Council of the Church of Norway and the WCC are the chief organizers behind the conference, “Reconciliation Processes and Indigenous Peoples: Truth, Healing and Transformation,” which will take place from 20-21 June. Coinciding with the National Aboriginal Day of Prayer in Canada, the conference will be held in connection with the WCC Central Committee meeting also taking place in Trondheim from 22-28 June.

The WCC has engaged with the Office for Genocide Prevention and the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers to promote a regional meeting in the Americas discussing the role of religious leaders in preventing incitements to violence that may lead to infractions categorized in international law as “atrocity crimes”: war crimes, genocide, crimes against humanity and crimes of aggression.

El CMI se ha asociado a la Oficina sobre la Prevención del Genocidio y a la red 'Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers' para promocionar una reunión regional en las Américas en torno al papel de los líderes religiosos en la prevención de la incitación a la violencia que puede degenerar en delitos considerados por el derecho internacional como “crímenes atroces”: crímenes de guerra, genocidio, crímenes contra la humanidad y crímenes de agresión.

Während des 4. UN-Forums für Wirtschaft und Menschenrechte organisierte der ÖRK in Zusammenarbeit mit dem ACT-Bündnis und dem Lutherischen Weltbund eine Veranstaltung zum Thema „Der Beitrag kirchlicher Organisationen zum Schutz der Landrechte von Gemeinschaften: Erkenntnisse und bewährte Praktiken aus Afrika, Asien und Lateinamerika”.

During the 4th United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights, the WCC, in collaboration with the ACT Alliance and Lutheran World Federation, organized a side-event on “Faith-based organizations’ contribution to the protection of communities’ land rights: lessons learnt and good practices from Africa, Asia and Latin America” at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva.

Durante el cuarto Foro de las Naciones Unidas sobre las Empresas y los Derechos Humanos, el CMI en colaboración con ACT Alianza y la Federación Luterana Mundial, organizó un evento sobre “La contribución de las organizaciones religiosas a la protección de los derechos de las comunidades sobre las tierras: lecciones aprendidas y buenas prácticas de África, Asia y América Latina”.
