During the debate on human rights and obstetric fistula at the 52nd session of the UN Human Rights Council, the World Council of Churches (WCC) with its ecumenical partners called upon governments to pay more attention to the prevention of obstetric fistula in their policies, strategic plans, and budgets.

La Comisión de las Iglesias sobre Asuntos Internacionales (CIAI) del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) ha facilitado la participación de las iglesias en una amplia variedad de cuestiones mundiales fundamentales desde la última Asamblea del CMI en Busan. Ésta fue la conclusión de la 58ª reunión de la CIAI del CMI, que reunió a los representantes de la iglesia físicamente en Johannesburgo y en línea en el año en que se celebra el 75º aniversario de la creación de la Comisión.

Das 58. Treffen der Kommission der Kirchen für internationale Angelegenheiten (CCIA) des Ökumenischen Rats der Kirchen (ÖRK), das im Jahr des 75-jährigen Bestehens der Kommission Vertreter in Johannesburg und online zusammenbrachte,  stellte zum Abschluss fest, dass diese seit der letzten ÖRK-Vollversammlung in Busan das Engagement der Kirchen in vielen für die Welt kritischen Bereichen unterstützt habe.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA) has facilitated churches’ engagement in a wide range of critical issues of the world since the last WCC Assembly in Busan, concluded the 58th meeting of the WCC CCIA, gathering church representatives in Johannesburg and online in the 75th anniversary year of the Commission’s creation.

Mit dem Klang südafrikanischer Trommeln zur Begrüßung begann diese Woche in Johannesburg die 58. Tagung der Kommission der Kirchen für internationale Angelegenheiten des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen. Auf der Tagung wird die Arbeit der Kommission zwischen zwei ÖRK-Vollversammlungen auf den Prüfstand gestellt, und es wird über das Engagement der Kirchen für wichtige Themen unserer heutigen Zeit diskutiert.

Con la sonora bienvenida de los tambores de Sudáfrica, la 58a reunión de la Comisión de las Iglesias para Asuntos Internacionales (CIAI) del Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI) comenzó esta semana en Johannesburgo a fin de examinar la labor de dicha comisión entre dos asamblea del CMI y entablar la discusión sobre la participación de las iglesias respecto a problemas críticos del mundo actual. 

With the welcoming sound of South African drums, the 58th meeting of the World Council of Churches Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA) began this week in Johannesburg, reviewing the work of the commission between two WCC assemblies and discussing the churches’ engagement in critical issues of the world today.

The WCC’s Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA) will meet on 2-6 November in Johannesburg and online, reviewing its work between the two WCC assemblies and preparing for the upcoming WCC 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe, Germany.
