A new edition of the ecumenical prayer cycle, one of the best-loved resources from the World Council of Churches (WCC), offers a rich treasury of prayers from and intercessions for all countries and regions of the world.

Das Thema „Kreative Solidarität in gemeinsamer Fragilität“ soll gläubige Menschen überall auf der Welt ermutigen, die Macht des Gebetes während der Weltwoche für Frieden in Palästina und Israel zu demonstrieren. Diese besondere, mit Aktionen unterlegte Gebetswoche findet jedes Jahr von 13.–21. September statt. In diese Woche fällt auch der Internationale Gebetstag für den Frieden am 21. September.

Under the theme “Creative Solidarity in Common Fragility,” people of faith all over the world are encouraged to demonstrate the power of prayer during the World Week for Peace in Palestine and Israel. This special week of prayer coupled with action is annually held 13 – 21 September and includes the International Day of Peace on 21 September.

Dr Olav Fykse Tveit spoke on “Christ's love moves the world to reconciliation and unity,” the theme of the WCC 11th Assembly in 2021 in Karlsruhe, Germany.

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit was visiting Los Angeles this week from 30 March to 4 April, preaching at the Hollywood United Methodist Church, delivering a lecture at Loyola Marymount University, and meeting with various ecumenical organizations and groups.

On 31 March at the Hollywood United Methodist Church, in a sermon entitled “The Two Brothers,” World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit reflected on the biblical parable of the prodigal son, among the most shared and well-known stories in the Bible.
