YATRA (Youth in Asia Training for Religious Amity) is an inter-religious training programme of the WCC. The intensive training course, held annually since 2014, seeks to enable young Christian leaders from Asian churches to contribute towards the building up of just, harmonious and peaceable communities by equipping them for ministries of justice and peace from an inter-religious perspective.

Organized by the World Council of Churches and the Canadian Council of Churches on 2-4 November, in Toronto, Canada, "Redesigning the Tree of Life" is intended as a participatory learning conference, informed by expert presentations, with time to build relationships and shared learning that make future shared work possible.

At its first Eco-School on Water, Food and Climate Justice, the WCC's Ecumenical Water Network (EWN) along with its Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance will bring together about 20 young people from the Africa region. Over a period of 10 days, in an ecumenical setting, participants will have the opportunity to study the local, regional, and international manifestations and causes of the water crisis and food security affected by climate change. They will examine the situation and challenges from a perspective of faith and ethics, and search together for possible ecumenical responses to these challenges.

As more people face famine today than any time in modern history, the WCC together with the All Africa Conference of Churches and a range of faith-based partners and networks invite a Global Day of Prayer to End Famine on 21 May 2017, in response to the hunger crisis.

Europe is experiencing a new situation: while a majority of its populations have enjoyed decades of relative peace and stability, millions of people from conflict regions beyond its borders have sought refuge in various European countries. These global migration movements have profoundly tested societies on the European continent and prompted serious questions: How do we want to live together? Which values are our societies based on?

The Continuing Formation on Health and Healing in Africa will give a space for young people to come together and discuss the role of the churches in addressing those issues and enabling young people to become actors of healing in their communities within the framework of the pilgrimage of justice and peace.

The Commission on Education and Ecumenical Formation (CEEF) is the WCC's primary advisory body for the whole area of education, ecumenical formation and faith nurture. The CEEF develops priorities and methodologies in these areas, fosters networking, exchange and collaboration among ecumenical institutions and experts in the area of ecumenical formation.

The Global Ecumenical Theological Institute 2017 is an ecumenical-theological initiative for education and encounter for advanced theology students from all over the world who are studying in Europe. The concrete encounter and joint studies will contribute to a European network of contacts and strengthen the mutual perception of European and migration churches. Participants shall study and experience horizons of an ecumenical theology and ecclesiology.

The Global Ecumenical Theological Institute (GETI) 2018 is a global ecumenical short-term study and exposure programme in accompaniment of the Conference on World Mission and Evangelism.

The Ecumenical Institute at Château de Bossey invites applications for the Certificate in Advanced Studies – Interreligious Studies, 2019. Intended for an international audience of young people interested and engaged in interreligious dialogue, the Ecumenical Institute's Certificate of Advanced Studies in Interreligious Studies includes lectures, courses, workshops and study visits to places of interreligious interest, and is accredited by the University of Geneva under the Swiss Higher Education Programme for Continuing Education.

The seminar Empowerment of Pan-African Women in the Ecumenical Movement in a Sustainable Development Perspective of the Pan-African Women’s Ecumenical Empowerment Network (PAWEEN) of the Ecumenical Theological Education programme of the WCC, offers an impetus to the invitation of the WCC member churches to join a pilgrimage of justice and peace.

The Pan-African Women’s Ecumenical Empowerment Network (PAWEEN) under the WCC programme on Ecumenical Theological Education is partnering with Bread for the World USA and Howard University in Washington D.C. for an international consultation on “Pan-African Women of Faith: Lifting our Voices and Votes to End Hunger and Poverty”

The WCC's Ecumenical Institute at Bossey will host a series of events to celebrate seventy years of ecumenical formation, including prayers, guided tours, an evening concert, as well as discussion on “Peace-Building and the Role of Religions”.

In Southern Africa, around 28 million people are facing food insecurity due to drought conditions brought on by the strength of El Niño in 2015/2016. The World Council of Churches – Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance is holding a regional consultation, hosted by World Vision International, to plan coordinated faith-based action in support of sustainable agriculture, agro-ecology and other climate-resilient methods, particularly targeting the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) discussion on the response to El Niño.

During a one-week summer school, communication and theology students will address questions of media and globalization, which are directly related to the theme of religion in the mass media. They will be introduced to different communication theories and get to know the challenges facing communication in the ecumenical movement and in interfaith dialogue.

Latin America is one of the most unequal regions in the world in terms of income and living conditions. At the same time, the region has strong religious traditions and churches. The seminar will address topics linked to the engagement of Latin American churches in social justice issues, drawing on the experiences of the participants themselves.

Young people are very much affected by the violence and tensions along religious lines that we are witnessing today in the Middle East but also in Europe, Asia, North America. The seminar is an interfaith initiative jointly organized by the Egyptian Muslim Centre Al Azhar (mosque and university), and the WCC.

Participants from different regions and Christian traditions will analyze together the challenges to mission in secularized contexts. They will discuss relevant passages of the mission statement Together Towards Life and work together on strategies and approaches to address this situation ecumenically – also drawing on the presence and vital witness of Christian communities of migrants.

The multi-cultural and multi-faith realities Christians live in today are confronting them, in their witness and praxis, with common challenges along with on-going differences among various Christian confessions. In a world of post-modern values and concepts, the voice of the churches remains often unheard and is hardly understood. In these contexts, the faithful members of the congregations across all confessions are getting aged and their number decreases. Other faith communities living in such contexts go through a similar experience.
