The mission statement Together Towards Life offers a new perspective on the situation and missionary challenges of churches in secularized societies. This is a pressing and vital issue for the churches especially in Europe and North America. It is imperative that this is seen as a shared ecumenical challenge for all member churches of the WCC in accompaniment of the churches that are most affected by this trend.

Participants from different Christian traditions will analyze together the challenges to mission in secularized contexts. They will discuss relevant passages of the mission statement and work together on strategies and approaches to address this situation ecumenically – also drawing on the presence and vital witness of Christian communities of migrants.

The seminar is coordinated by Dr Marina Behera, professor of Missiology for the Ecumenical Institute with Rev. Dr Jooseop Keum, director for Commission on Mission and Evangelism and Rev. Dr Hielke Wolters, associate general secretary for Unity, Mission and Ecumenical Relations.
