Erneute Forderung des ÖRK nach Freilassung der Erzbischöfe von Aleppo

Der geschäftsführende Generalsekretär des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen, Priester Prof. Dr. Ioan Sauca, wiederholte die Forderungen nach der Freilassung von zwei syrischen Erzbischöfen, dem syrisch-orthodoxen Erzbischof Johanna Ibrahim und dem griechisch-orthodoxen Erzbischof Bulos Jasidschi, die im April 2013 in der Nähe von Aleppo entführt worden waren.

World Council of Churches acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca reiterated calls for the release of two Syrian archbishops, Syriac Orthodox Archbishop Yohanna Ibrahim and Greek Orthodox Archbishop Paul Yazigi, who were kidnapped near Aleppo, Syria in April 2013.

US House panel advances historic effort to pay reparations to descendants of slaves

A House panel in the United States Congress advanced a decades-long effort to pay reparations to the descendants of slaves by approving legislation, commonly referred to as H.R. 40, on 15 April that would create a commission to study the issue. The “40” refers to the failed government effort to provide 40 acres (16 hectares) of land to newly freed slaves as the Civil War drew to a close.

It's the first time the House Judiciary Committee has acted on the legislation.
