The celebration plenary during the WCC central committee meeting in Geneva will highlight stories from the past, while generating hope for the future.

El CMI destaca la necesidad urgente de un sólido balance mundial para hacer frente a los efectos del cambio climático

El Consejo Mundial de Iglesias (CMI), en colaboración con la Federación Luterana Mundial (FLM), Soka Gakkai International y Braham Kumaris, organizó un evento paralelo titulado “Adoptar medidas climáticas: apoyar un sólido balance mundial desde una perspectiva ética y de derechos humanos”, el 5 de junio en Bonn (Alemania). El evento reunió a expertos y partes interesadas con el fin de hacer hincapié en la importancia de integrar los derechos humanos, consideraciones éticas y la justicia climática en el próximo proceso de balance mundial.

A mind blowing exposure for stewards during central committee

 “There’s one thing I always say to young people when you start off in the stewards programme– be very careful, because the ecumenical bug gets you as this is a mind blowing exposure and you start to think about the church in a very different way – and this is not a bad thing", remarked World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay in his welcoming address to the young people from all over the world who were welcomed at the Ecumenical Centre on 16 June as stewards, in preparation for the upcoming central committee which is taking place 21-27 June in Geneva. 

WCC central committee will gather, focus on post-assembly strategy to help the world heal

The World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee will meet 21-27 June in its first meeting since the governing body was elected at the WCC 11th Assembly in 2022. The group will predominately focus on strategies and concrete measures for achieving goals staked out by the assembly. Turning priorities into actions in all programmatic areas and further strengthening the WCCs influence on world affairs in a spirit of pilgrimage, reconciliation, and unity, are key objectives.

World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay expressed shock at the news of a brutal attack at a school in western Uganda by rebels linked to the Islamic State Group, on 16 June.
