WCC joins call for release of mission personnel from Philippines

The World Council of Churches (WCC) joined the Council of Bishops of the United Methodist Church (UMC) as well as United Methodist bishops in the Philippines in appealing to the government of the Philippines for assistance and cooperation in extracting three United Methodist mission personnel from the country.

A tribute to former WCC president for the Asia-Pacific

Chō Takeda Kiyoko passed away on 12 April at the age of 100. Throughout her many scholarly pursuits, she always strived to deepen her engagement with global ecumenical Christianity. The World Council of Churches released a tribute.

May we remember them well, with dignity and respect

Meeting the Hibakusha, survivors of the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, is humbling. Sharing their stories is a challenge. Travelling to Oslo in Norway on 9-10 December, more than 20 Hibakusha joined celebrations of ICAN receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. May we remember them well, with dignity and respect.

Rund 40 Fachleute für ökumenische Beziehungen in unterschiedlichen Mitgliedskirchen in Afrika, Asien, der Karibik, im Nahen Osten und in Nord- und Südamerika sind zurzeit in Genf in der Schweiz versammelt. Diese viertägige Tagung bietet ihnen die Gelegenheit, sich über die unterschiedlichen ÖRK-Programme zu informieren und auch voneinander zu lernen.
