Dans une déclaration intitulée «Guerre en Ukraine, paix et justice en Europe», la 11^e Assemblée du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) dénonce l’invasion «illégale et injustifiable» de l’Ukraine par la Russie et renouvelle l’appel à un cessez-le-feu.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly released a minute entitled “Consequences of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war,” in which it reiterated its condemnation of the use of chemical weapons and cluster munitions, the targeting of civilians, hospitals and public infrastructure, and all other war crimes, beheadings, torture and other atrocities witnessed during the conflict.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly presented a minute on ending the war and building peace on the Korean Peninsula. The minute notes that the WCC 10th Assembly in Busan, South Korea, drew the attention of the worldwide ecumenical movement to the ongoing search for peace, reconciliation and reunification of the divided Korean people.

Reconnaissant l’importance d’un «dialogue renouvelé au sein du mouvement œcuménique», la 11ᵉ Assemblée du COE a publié une Déclaration «affirmant avec force l’engagement du COE et de ses Églises membres en faveur de l’établissement de la paix par le dialogue et la coopération entre les religions, à tous les niveaux» et appelant à un cessez-le-feu général dans tous les conflits armés du monde.

A statement from the World Council of Churches (WCC) 11th Assembly, “War in Ukraine, Peace and Justice in the European Region,” denounces “the illegal and unjustifiable” Russian invasion of Ukraine and renews the call for a ceasefire.

Recognizing the deep need for, “renewed dialogue within the ecumenical movement,” the WCC 11th Assembly released a statement “strongly affirming the commitment of the WCC and its member churches to peace making through inter-religious dialogue and cooperation at all levels,” and calling for a global ceasefire in all armed conflicts around the world.

Le Conseil œcuménique des Églises invite la communauté mondiale et toutes les personnes de bonne volonté à se joindre, le 15 août, à une prière pour la paix et la réconciliation dans la péninsule coréenne.

The World Council of Churches invites the global fellowship and all people of good will to join, on 15 August, a prayer for peace and reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula.

Au cours de sa récente visite de solidarité en Ukraine, une délégation du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) a rencontré diverses institutions publiques chargées des affaires religieuses pour prêter une oreille attentive aux victimes de la guerre, mais aussi pour demander aux autorités d’autoriser les membres de la délégation des Églises ukrainiennes à sortir du pays pour participer à la 11ᵉ Assemblée du COE à Karlsruhe.

During the recent solidarity visit in Ukraine, a World Council of Churches (WCC) delegation has met with various state institutions working with religious issues, listening and learning from the victims of the ongoing war and asking for support in giving permission to the members of the delegation of Ukrainian Churches to leave the country and attend the WCC 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe. 

Déplorant la guerre illégale et injustifiable «infligée au peuple et à l’État souverain d’Ukraine», le Comité central du COE s’est lamenté du «bilan effroyable qui va en s’aggravant: la mort, la destruction et le déplacement des populations; la destruction des relations et un antagonisme de plus en plus profond entre les peuples de la région; les confrontations qui s’enveniment à travers le monde; le risque accru de famine dans les régions du monde touchées par l’insécurité alimentaire; ainsi que les difficultés économiques et l’exacerbation de l’instabilité sociale et politique dans de nombreux pays».

Deploring the illegal and unjustifiable war “inflicted on the people and sovereign state of Ukraine” the World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee lamented “the awful and continuing toll of deaths, destruction and displacement, of destroyed relationships and ever more deeply entrenched antagonism between the people of the region, of escalating confrontation globally, of increased famine risk in food insecure regions of the world, of economic hardship and heightened social and political instability in many countries.”

Dans une déclaration publique, le comité exécutif du Conseil œcuménique des Églises a réitéré la nécessité d'un cessez-le-feu en Ukraine et la nécessité de s'attaquer à l'insécurité alimentaire croissante dans le monde.
