Vier vorbereitende Tagungen zur Vollversammlung des Ökumenischen Rats der Kirchen (ÖRK) stehen in den Startlöchern, um mehreren Hundert Menschen, die sich aufrichtig über ihre Überlegungen und Lebensherausforderungen austauschen möchten, einen sicheren Raum zu geben. Dazu gehören die vorbereitende Tagung der indigenen Völker, das Ökumenische Treffen junger Menschen, die Tagung des Ökumenischen Aktionsbündnis von und für Menschen mit Behinderungen und die Tagung zu gerechten Gemeinschaften für Frauen und Männer.

Der Zentralausschuss des Ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen (ÖRK) ruft ÖRK-Mitgliedskirchen und ökumenische Partner in einer öffentlichen Erklärung dazu auf, “sexualisierte oder geschlechtsspezifische Gewalt und jede Form von Gewalt gegen Frauen, Kinder und vulnerable Personen zu verurteilen oder ihre bereits erfolgte Verurteilung zu bekräftigen, solche Verneinung der gleichen Würde aller Menschen und derartige Gewalt zur Sünde zu erklären und Richtlinien zur Prävention von sexueller Ausbeutung, Misshandlungen and Belästigung zu implementieren.”

WCC central committee statement on sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment calls churches to challenge injustice, build awareness

The World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee, in a public statement, called upon WCC member churches and ecumenical partners to condemn or reiterate their condemnation of sexual and gender-based violence and of any form of violence against women, children and vulnerable people; to declare such rejection of the equal dignity of all people and such violence a sin; and to implement guidelines for the prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment.”
