The meeting will be the first for the commission since convening in Helsinki, Finland, on 16-22 May 2019. The commission will discuss how the pandemic has changed the global scene of the world, and its implications for mission in the 2020s. The objectives of the meeting are to discuss work and plans in light of the WCC 11th Assembly in 2022, as well as to strengthen the fellowship of the commissioners.

The commission will review study documents currently underway among its working groups, and discern how these and other commission documents may be used by the ecumenical mission movement and WCC member churches, as well as by the WCC central committee and the Assembly.
