As a crowd of more than 300 gathered, the St Paul’s University School of Theology officially launched Thursdays in Black, pledging to build an Africa without violence and to join together on a pilgrimage of justice, peace, and reconciliation.

Avec le lancement le 1er avril de l'événement hybride de plongée plus profonde sur la publication jeunesse "Let the waves roar", le secrétaire général par intérim du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE), le père Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca, a souhaité la bienvenue à tous, avec ces mots : "Je suis tellement heureux de découvrir, grâce à cette nouvelle publication, le point de vue de jeunes voix prophétiques du mouvement œcuménique surtout au moment où nous nous acheminons vers la 11e assemblée."

As the hybrid book event on a deeper dive in the youth publication “Let the waves roar” commenced on 1 April, World Council of Churches (WCC) acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca welcomed everyone, saying: “I am so grateful to have the new publication with perspectives of young prophetic voices in the ecumenical movement, especially as we move toward the 11th assembly.”

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is inviting an intergenerational group to explore, critically analyze, and propose ways forward at a hybrid event of a deeper dive into the different voices represented in the youth publication “Let the waves roar.” 

The World Council of Churches (WCC) released a new publication, “Let the Waves Roar: Perspectives of young prophetic voices in the ecumenical movement.”

"If youth in Africa are united and reconcile with our past, we will be able to confront the stumbling blocks of the continent. If we are patriotic, if we have a passion for Africa, we can transform the continent to be a home and a future for all," said Collins Shava, youth executive secretary for the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC), as he reflected on the Africa: My Home. My Future. campaign being undertaken by AACC to inspire young people to be patriotic to their countries and Africa at large by utilizing their talents towards building a thriving continent.

Une sélection variée de 26 jeunes désignés comme stewards du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE) se sont réunis en ligne du 14 au 16 juin 2021 pour prendre part à une introduction aux fonctions de steward et à une formation œcuménique, conçue pour construire une conscience du contexte, développer le sens du leadership et renforcer la solidarité mondiale, ainsi qu’à une introduction à leur participation aux prochaines grandes réunions du COE. 

A diverse selection of 26 young people designated as stewards for the World Council of Churches (WCC) gathered online from 14-16 June 2021 to take part in an orientation of stewardship and ecumenical formation, designed to build awareness, develop leadership, and strengthen global solidarity, as well as an orientation on their participation in upcoming major WCC meetings.

What is our role as Christians in protecting the environment? As the impact of climate change intensifies over time, children and young people are facing the consequences of our actions. This year, the World Council of Churches (WCC) is organizing an online event to observe Ecumenical International Youth Day as a space for young people to discuss climate change. 

Un groupe de 26 stewards du monde entier se réunissent en ligne cette semaine pour se préparer à leur mission lors de la réunion à venir du Comité central du Conseil œcuménique des Églises (COE). 

Ces jeunes des quatre coins du monde se rencontrent du 14 au 16 juin autour d’un programme prévoyant une formation œcuménique ainsi qu’une présentation des travaux du Comité central du COE qui se réunira du 23 au 29 juin. 

 

A group of 26 stewards from all over the world are convening online this week for their orientation into serving during the upcoming World Council of Churches (WCC) central committee meeting. 

The young people from all over the world will meet on 14-16 June for a programme that includes ecumenical formation as well as an introduction into the proceedings of the WCC central committee, which will convene 23-29 June.
