WCC general secretary to visit Republic of Korea

Dr Olav Fykse Tveit is traveling to the Republic of Korea with a delegation that also includes WCC director of international affairs Peter Prove, WCC director of communication Marianne Ejdersten, and WCC programme executive Rev. Christians in China warmly receive WCC delegation

In a moving worship service on 8 July in Bethanienkirche, Leipzig, Germany, a pastor from North Korea Rev. Kang Myong-chol, Chair of the Korean Christians Federation and a pastor from South Korea Rev. Kim Young-ju, general secretary of the National Council of Churches in Korea presided over Holy Communion together, closing a meeting that underscored the need for urgent ecumenical responses to the dangerously escalating tensions on the Korean peninsula.

WCC general secretary visits Aotearoa New Zealand

The general secretary of the WCC, Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, opened his ecumenical and interfaith tour of New Zealand and Australia on 6 October. The first stop was Auckland with a powhiri at Te Karaiti Te Pou Herenga Waka Maori Anglican church in Mangere. Tveit will visit the region between 6-17 October.
