Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay served as a keynote speaker at the Ninth Conference for Research in Diakonia and Christian Social Practice, hosted by the International Society for the Research and Study of Diakonia and Christian Social Practice and VID Specialized University. A communique from a prayer planning committee explained that Christians are called into prayer and advocacy for peace. “In a global context where war and violence abound, the practice of peace has become even more urgent,” reads the message.

The acting general secretary of the World Council of Churches, the Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca, has been honoured by the WCC’s Ecumenical Institute at the Chateau de Bossey, where he has served 24 years on its faculty, and been its director since 2001.
