Youth commission elects four new vice moderators

The Commission on Young People in the Ecumenical Movement (YPEM), during its meeting in the Philippines, elected four new vice moderators: Ann Chris Jacob (United Methodist Church USA), Lorena Bonilla Garcia (Mennonite Church of Colombia), Rev. Bjorn Warde (Presbyterian Church of Trinidad and Tobago), and Danil Arakelian (Russian Orthodox Church).

Seven Weeks for Water 2024, final refection: "Groaning earth needs resurrection through 'water of life'"

The last reflection of the Seven Weeks for Water 2024 series of the WCC Ecumenical Water Network is jointly written by Rev. Audra Hudson Stone and Jacob Stone. They argue that natural disasters are not natural anymore; rather, they are human-induced. These disasters are the groaning of the earth, which is drawing our attention to mend our ways. The Stones are hopeful that, as Jesus rose from the shackles of death, the mother earth, too, will rise from its despair, suffering, and death through the “water of life”—Jesus Christ. To that end, we need to facilitate and practice “resurrection” of the earth!

In USA, pilgrims trek for 200+ kilometers calling for ceasefire in Palestine

Sometimes the pilgrims were a couple dozen people walking on the shoulder of a nondescript rural highway in freezing temperatures. Other times their ranks swelled into the hundreds, as they rallied in US cities including Philadelphia, Baltimore, and, finally, Washington, D.C., where, on 21 February, they urged President Biden to call for an end to the war in Palestine.
