UN Financing for Development Forum Side-event on "Can taxing the rich help to close the gender divide? And why should we care?”

Linking with the theme of 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective”, this hybrid session will bring a range of perspectives to bear on the questions: What can we do to address extreme wealth concentration? How can taxing the richest in our societies as well as addressing corporate tax evasion serve to advance the goal of gender equity? And why should faith-based organisations care?

WCC at the Commission on the Status of Women

The sixty-eighth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will take place from 11 to 22 March 2024. Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world will be engaged in person and online. The CSW is the largest United Nations gathering on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Save Children’s Lives – Responsible Banking Survival Guide for Faith Actors & Partners

The World Council of Churches (WCC) will co-host an action-oriented seminar on Tuesday, May 9th at 2 pm CET, focused on the responsible banking survival guide for faith actors and partners. This online event aims to inspire and advance the actions of faith-based actors and partners to halt the ongoing increase of CO2 emissions by stopping the financing of new fossil fuel projects, focusing on saving childrens lives and securing the future for generations to come.

En la siguiente reflexión, brinda un contexto histórico del ministerio de justicia del agua del CMI y reafirma que el agua es un regalo de Dios, un bien común y un derecho humano. Inspirándose en Isaías, llama a las iglesias a convertirse en comunidades azules y a decir «no» a la privatización del agua y al agua embotellada.

Inspiriert von Jesaja fordert er die Kirchen auf, „Blue Communities“ zu werden und nein zu sagen zur Privatisierung von Wasser und zu Trinkwasser in Flaschen.

Taking the inspiration from Isaiah, he calls the churches to become blue communities and say no to privatisation of water and to bottled water.
