Events with involvement of the World Council of Churches and ecumenical partners at the COP28 conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 30 November - 12 December.

Faith-based organizations will gather in-person and online on  9 February to explore the theme “Ethical Perspectives on COP27 & Looking Forward Towards COP28.”

Book Launch webinar with title “Contemporary ecotheology, climate justice and environmental stewardship in world religions” (ECOTHEE. VOL. 6) from the 6th edition of Ecological Theology and Environmental Ethics (ECOTHEE) conference, that was held under the Auspices of His All Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and with the support of the World Council of Churches (WCC) programme on Care for Creation, sustainability and climate justice (Ecological and Economic Justice) at the Orthodox Academy of Crete.

In preserving and restoring unity, churches are increasingly confronted with moral questions. The World Council of Churches Faith and Order Commission has studied this topic and recently presented a new study document called “Churches and Moral Discernment: Facilitating Dialogue to Build Koinonia.” In a series of three webinars, the commission will introduce the document and two other publications that assist in learning from and with each other about discerning ethical questions in the churches.

This symposium will focus on the impact of digital transformation on communities and societies, and the actions needed to secure a just and inclusive digital future. Bringing together research, experiences from different regions and communities, expert input, and ethical and theological reflection, it will identify opportunities for action as a contribution to the 11th assembly of the World Council of Churches.

Ecumenical School on Governance, Economics and Management for an Economy of Life (GEM School) online 2020 - opening panel: Economy of Life in a time of inequality, pandemic and climate change

This series of short webinars are promoted by the Geneva Interfaith Forum on Climate Change, Environment and Human Rights (comprised of World Council of Churches, Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University, Dominicans for Justice and Peace, Franciscans International, the Lutheran World Federation, and Soka Gakkai International) on the occasion of the 44th Session of the Human Rights Council.

Current and future leaders representing churches worldwide are invited to apply for the Ecumenical School on Governance, Economics and Management for an Economy of Life (GEM School) from 17 to 28 August 2020, tentatively to be held in Taipei. Aim of the training is strengthening the voice of churches on global economics and their advocacy for an Economy of Life.

The 6th edition of this conference is held under the Auspices of His All Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and with the support of the World Council of Churches (WCC) programme on Care for Creation, sustainability and climate justice (Ecological and Economic Justice)

This workshop will bring together around 20 participants from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islamic, Jewish and other traditions to reflect on the concept of just transitions from faith lenses as well as to discuss the role of faiths in enabling transformation.
