Geneva Peace Week offers an opportunity to connect and highlight the work of peacebuilding actors and to expand the space for building peace and resolving conflict through dialogue and negotiation. World Council of Churches is involved in organization of two events during the Geneva Peace week.

To commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak (1469), the first guru of the Sikhs, a Christian-Sikh dialogue will be organised in Geneva on the 5th of July 2019. The dialogue will focus on the theme ‘Pursuing Peace in a Pluralistic World’.

The WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) sector is increasingly recognizing the value of engaging with faith actors. Correspondingly, numerous faith actors have expressed support for WASH programs and the SDGs. This fourth annual Water and Faith event at the World Water Week builds upon these trends and the last three years of dialogue at this event.

The eighteenth Building Bridges Seminar will meet 11–15 June 2019 in the Ecumenical Institute of Bossey in Geneva, Switzerland. An international circle of scholars will engage in close reading and dialogue on the topic of freedom—between humanity and God, different religions and politics, personal conviction and public order, and between individuals— exploring the historic role of faith communities in addressing freedom.

The 24th Conference of Parties (COP 24) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Katowice, Poland, is a crucial moment for governments to adopt the guidelines for the effective implementation of the Paris Agreement. We believe that faith communities have made significant contributions in addressing the immense challenges posed by climate change through advocacy, mobilisation, capacity building and education. While gathering around the COP 24, there will be a moment of sharing together.
