Youth celebrate inclusion and world’s gifts, even amid grave challenges

In light of International Youth Day on 12 August, the World Council of Churches (WCC), Lutheran World Federation and the World Student Christian Federation invited youth to celebrate the day at the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva. The event promoted a shared understanding of inclusion, acknowledging the gifts and addressing the common concerns and challenges of young people around the world.

Community of Protestant Churches in Europe gathers for 8th Assembly

Member churches of the 8th Community of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE) General Assembly gathered in Basel, Switzerland on 13-18 September. The choice of the Basel Cathedral and the adjoining pre-Reformation Bishops Palace to meet suited well the historic moment on Switzerland’s Day of Prayer of Thanksgiving, Repentance and Prayer.

COP 23 “debriefing” brings faith and ethical perspectives

Faith groups gathered at the Ecumenical Centre on 16 January to evaluate from faith and human rights perspectives the outcomes of the 23rd Conference of Parties (COP 23) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. They discussed the role of faith-based organizations in the Talanoa Dialogue emerging from COP 23 and began to cooperate for effective and meaningful faith-based engagement in COP 24.

“Greater Oneness in Christ” focus of dialogue at historic meeting in Bossey

In the journey to overcome internal divisions separating Christians, the top leadership of the World Council of Churches (WCC), Pentecostal World Fellowship (PWF), World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), and the Vatican's officials for promoting Christian Unity met together for the first time, in a historic meeting 22-23 May, spending two days facilitating their support of the Global Christian Forum (GCF). The meeting was organised collaboratively by the WCC and the GCF.

2nd consultation for the Ecumenical Global Health Strategy

The WCC held the 1st consultative meeting on ecumenical global health strategy in Maseru, Lesotho on 27 February 2017. A second consultation takes place in Geneva on 24 May, to reinforce the unique contribution of the ecumenical movement to global health issues, and to strengthen the coherence of the ecumenical global health strategy being developed.
